The remarkable Kasia kindly invited me to the play Seven Songs Game, so:

Andrew Bird - The Trees Were Mistaken. This song has been haunting me for a week or so.

Iron & Wine - Boy With A Coin. Samuel Beam can do no wrong.

Plants and Animals - Good Friend. Yes, they are a lot like Midlake. But better.

Cut Copy - Hearts On Fire. I love the minute-long crescendo that breaks into the bass line while the refrain is repeated about 20 times….classic trance. I think if you play this song on repeat, Paul Oakenfold astral projects to the room after the 33rd go round.

Wax Tailor - I Don’t Know. Humor in music is really, really hard, but some people are good at it: James Murphy, The Rapture, most of the DFA crew, lots of rappers. This song is funny in a sly way, and just plain amazing, like many other songs on Tales Of The Forgotten Melodies.

The Black Kids - I’m Not Gonna Teach Your Boyfriend How To Dance With You. I came late to this party, but I’m glad to be here.

Thom Yorke - The Eraser (XXXchange remix).  This man reduces me to a fourteen year old fan girl. I’ve eaten in the same restaurant as he on several occasions and twice this resulted in crying. (Mine, not his.) I brushed by him on a narrow staircase and barely spoke for the rest of the day. As profoundly uncool as it is to admit, if I were to be actually introduced to him, I can say with some certainty that my organs would cease functioning. Please believe that a remix of one of his songs has to be good for me to listen to it even more than once. And I listen to this one all the time.

I would very much like to know what seven songs Lola, Antoinetta, Kimberlee Cline, Ekstasis, and Melissa are wearing out right now.
